Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

By downloading, installing or using Valence ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use the App. These Terms are an agreement between you and Furkan Dogan, the developer of Valence.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you need permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using the App, you confirm that you meet these requirements.

3. What the App does

Valence reads the other side of a breakup. You answer a few questions and log what your ex does; the App places your ex in a phase, writes a reading for each thing you log, and gives you a coach, the Strategist, to talk it through. Readings and coach replies are written by an AI model (see section 6 and the Privacy Policy).

4. License to use the App

We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms. You may not:

• copy, modify, distribute, sell or rent any part of the App;
• reverse engineer the App or try to extract its source code;
• use the App for anything unlawful or in violation of these Terms;
• try to get around any security or access restriction of the App.

5. Subscriptions

Readings and the coach require a subscription or a lifetime purchase.

Plans

• Weekly: an auto-renewing weekly subscription, with a 3-day free trial for eligible new subscribers.
• Lifetime: a one-time purchase with permanent access. It has no trial and does not renew.
• Monthly: an auto-renewing monthly subscription, offered to people whose free trial has ended.

Prices are shown in the App before you buy and may vary by country.

Free trial

Trial eligibility is decided by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play) based on your account history. When the trial ends, you are charged the weekly price automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Auto-renewal

Weekly and Monthly subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your account is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends, at the price of your plan.

Managing or cancelling

• iPhone (App Store): Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Valence
• Android (Google Play): Play Store → Profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Valence

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period, and you keep access until then. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds

All payments are processed by Apple or Google, and refunds are handled by them under their own policies: reportaproblem.apple.com for the App Store and play.google.com/store/account for Google Play. We don't process refunds directly.

6. AI readings and coaching: important

• Readings describe common patterns in how people act after a breakup. They are likely, not certain, and they don't know what your ex actually thinks.
• Readings and coach replies are not professional advice. They are not a substitute for therapy, counseling, medical or legal advice.
• AI replies can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable for your situation. Don't rely on them alone for important decisions.
• Your messages and the context the coach needs are sent to Google Gemini to produce replies, as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Crisis and mental health

Valence is not a crisis service and is not designed for emergencies. If you are in crisis, having thoughts of hurting yourself, or in immediate danger:

• Call your local emergency number now.
• Turkey: call 112.
• United States: call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline).
• United Kingdom: call 116 123 (Samaritans).
• Other countries: visit findahelpline.com.

The App shows crisis resources when a message contains certain words about self-harm. This is not a substitute for emergency services.

8. Your content

You own what you write in the App (your answers, notes and messages). You give us permission to store and process it only to run the App for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. Your data is stored on your device and on our server until you delete it with Settings → Delete my data.

You agree not to use the App to create or share content that is illegal, abusive or threatening, or that violates the rights of others.

9. Intellectual property

Everything in the App that you didn't write, including text, design, graphics, logos, software and AI prompt structures, belongs to Furkan Dogan and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce or distribute any part of the App without written permission.

10. No account

The App doesn't need an account. It uses an anonymous ID created on your device. If you delete the App or lose your device without using Delete my data first, your readings and conversations can't be restored to a new install. Your subscription can be restored with Restore on the paywall.

11. Changes to the App and to these Terms

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the App at any time. We may update these Terms; changes appear on this page with a new date, and significant changes are also announced in the App. Using the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Termination

You can stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you violate these Terms. Subscriptions are cancelled through the App Store or Google Play as described in section 5.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't promise that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or right for your needs. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.

14. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Furkan Dogan is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including emotional distress, loss of data or interruption of service. Total liability for direct damages is limited to the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months before the claim.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these exclusions or limits, so some of them may not apply to you. In those places, liability is limited to the maximum extent the law allows.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Furkan Dogan from any claims, damages or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or your misuse of the App.

16. Third-party services

The App works with third-party services, including the Apple App Store, Google Play, RevenueCat, Google Firebase, Google Gemini, Cloudflare and AppsFlyer. Your use of them is also subject to their own terms and privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Turkey, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes are resolved by the courts of Istanbul, Turkey, except where the mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence say otherwise.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.

18. Severability

If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in full effect.
